Vaughn is well known in New York and New Jersey for his 20 years of leadership of corporations, communities, and people. His experience spans federal and state government, nonprofits, law firms, and corporations, where he earned a reputation as a business-savvy lawyer who is at home in the boardroom and in the trenches. He has been recognized for his ability to influence, motivate, and organize to achieve goals, and has been recruited as a straight-shooter and a big picture thinker. He is an executive with the subsidiary of a leading energy holding company. Prior to his current affiliation, Vaughn was one of New Jersey’s top state prosecutors. He’s also been a federal prosecutor and a lawyer in private practice. He’s a graduate of NYU’s School of Business, Rutgers Law School, and Rutgers University—where he was a top scholar-athlete and played football all four years. Determined to give back to local communities, Vaughn is a long-time leader of nonprofits, serving as a board member for several charities. His contributions to law, business, and communities have been recognized with dozens of awards.
In addition to being an award-winning lawyer and businessman, Vaughn is a writer and motivational speaker. In his honest and revealing autobiography, Playing Up: One Man’s Rise From Public Housing To Public Service Through Mentorship, the former Rutgers University football standout leads the reader through the mind-set and strategies that put him on the path to success from inner-city Paterson, NJ and Eastside High School to the United States Attorney’s Office and beyond. Vaughn is passionate about empowering people and through Manifest Destiny, Inc., a not-for-profit co-founded by him and his wife, he provides powerful programming for adults 18 to 45 years old. Manifest Destiny will soon offer scholarships for motivated high school and college students who are actively engaged in mentoring relationships.
Vaughn is married and has three children. An avid sports fan, he enjoys running and attending and sporting events with his wife and kids. Vaughn appreciates all kinds of music (hip-hop, r&b, gospel, jazz, pop and rock) and often uses it to relax and reflect.
